Soy Catalina V. Hulsbus

Nací en Chile, donde desde pequeña encontré en el dibujo una forma de contar lo que imaginaba. Con el tiempo, ese impulso se transformó en oficio: me formé como artista visual, profesora de artes y gestora cultural, tejiendo esos tres hilos en mi trabajo.

He vivido en distintos países y mis ilustraciones han viajado incluso más que yo, apareciendo en libros, talleres y exposiciones en varias partes del mundo. Hoy sigo creando: a veces sola, a veces en colaboración. Y comparto lo que sé en talleres de arte, en escuelas, museos, bibliotecas o al aire libre.

Cuando pienso en un nuevo libro, me atraen los relatos que hablan de mitología, identidad, naturaleza y animales. Son temas que vuelven una y otra vez a mis páginas, como voces que insisten en ser dibujadas.

I’m Catalina V. Hulsbus.

I was born in Chile, where drawing became my way of telling stories from an early age. Over time, that instinct turned into a profession: I trained as a visual artist, art teacher, and cultural manager—three threads I continue to weave into my work.

I’ve lived in several countries, and my illustrations have traveled even farther—appearing in books, workshops, and exhibitions around the world. Today, I keep creating: sometimes on my own, sometimes in collaboration. I also share what I’ve learned by offering art workshops in schools, museums, libraries, and open-air spaces.

When I start a new book, I’m drawn to themes like mythology, identity, nature, and animals. These stories return to my pages again and again, like voices asking to be drawn.
